The Vortex 45 has been designed to be the perfect wheel to be used on those very windy days or by lighter riders where its 45mm rim depth is the perfect depth in achieving the combination of superb aerodynamics and wheel control where the Vortex 73 is to deep to be practical.
The use of a dual impact absorbing core combined with woven and high modulus carbon makes the Vortex 45 stiff, extremely light and strong. This gives incredible acceleration and a tremendous climbing advantage. It is also durable enough to be an everyday training wheel.
The Vortex 45 is 23.8mm wide and includes an angled braking surface. This section of the rim has been optimized to control the airflow from the tyre onto the rim profile.
The unique rim profile combined with the precise placement of our Vortex Generators that ‘trips’ the airflow just after the braking surface insures unsurpassed control of the laminar airflow as it follows the rim profile for optimum performance at angles of attack from 0-20 degrees.
The Vortex 45 wheels are built using our own precision design and engineered hub system. Our front hub is a feather weight 62g and the equally as light rear of 218g that can be changed with ease from Shimano to Campagnolo.
The profile has been optimized for use with tyres up to 23mm wide. Testing has proven 20mm and 21mm wide tyres have the best aerodynamic performance.

Vortex Generators
The Vortex Generators 'trips' the airflow just after the braking surface and creates a paper thin turbulent layer on the rim surface. This ensures unsurpassed control of the laminar airflow as it faithfully follows the rim profile generating forward lift and optimum performance at angles of attack from 0-20 degrees.

fIST ‘Fully Integrated Spoke Technology’
With fIST every spoke hole is molded precisely into place and reinforced with additional carbon fiber. No drilling means no weakening of the fiber at the wheel’s most critical point. This results in better energy transfer for faster acceleration and a lite wheel from the reduced carbon fiber between the spokes.

hARD 'Hybrid Carbon-Alloy Rim Design'
